After he took three wives[2], Zeenab[3], Khadija,[4] Kalsoom[5] from among the families of Hindu Rajas who embraced the new faith. Some of the descensants of Qutub Shah from these wives are supposed to have assumed names that reflected the Hindu heritage of their mothers and the Awan sub-clans that trace their origins to these particular individuals, bear the names of their eponyms.[6]
